  • c.The positive model
  • d.All of the above

What is appreciative inquiry?

Appreciative Inquiry is a methodology used to bring about positive change in businesses or organizations. It is not based on problems and their solutions. It is based on the capabilities of employees and how their capabilities can increase productivity in the organization.

Let’s explore each option, and in the end, you'll see why “the positive model” is the right answer.

a. Lewin’s change model

This model focuses on changing the fixing model rather than glorifying what is working well for the organisation. Although it’s one of the oldest and famous models. It has three steps :
  • Unfreeze
  • Change
  • Refreeze
It is focusing on change, so it is not the foundation of appreciative inquiry.

b. Action research model

The action research model is more scientific as it involves :
  • Diagnosing problems
  • Planning actions
  • Implementing those actions
  • Evaluating results
It focuses on fixing problems and is almost identical to Lewin’s model. However, Appreciative inquiry is different and focuses more on positive strengths.

c.The positive model

The positive model is the fundamental foundation of appreciative inquiry. Its main objective is to identify what works best for the company and to apply it more precisely and effectively.

It includes:
  • Looking at the positives that happened in the organisation
  • Asking employees what they liked the most in the organisation and what makes them proud.
  • Used those amazing stories to build a better future.
It focuses on positive thinking and appreciation. This model has a belief that people are more motivated.

It has five steps:
  • Define
  • Discover
  • Dream
  • Design
  • Destiny

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is clearly stated that the positive model by that name is a part of appreciative inquiry, as it promotes winning and the best moments of employees. Therefore, they feel more motivated and valued, and in return, they give fruitful results to the company.
